2026 College Exhibits Missouri Western State University (MWSU), Title: Use of GPS and GIS in Resource Location Description: GPS and GIS will be explained, and the value of their use will be described in terms of locating resources including rocks and minerals.
Missouri University (MU), Title: Hidden Treasures of Missouri: Rare Fossils & Ancient Life Description: This display features rare fossils from Missouri that tell the story of the state across deep time- from ancient seas to Ice Age landscapes.
Northwest Missouri State University – Geo Club (NWMSU), Title: Crystals with Consequences. How Geology Intersects with Human Safety, Industry, and Responsibility Description: Hand samples of hazardous minerals, as well as images that relate to their impact on human health and the environment.
University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC), Title: Sampling Earth: Specimens from the Richard L. Sutton, Jr. Geosciences Museum Description: The samples will create a cross section of earth from the mantle to the crust with fossils on top. There will be a map of the display case showing the origin of the specimens.
University of Kansas, Division of Paleobotany (KU), Title: Fossil Woods of the World through Time Description: Types of petrified (silicified) wood that can be found through geologic time. It will also show the three-dimensional structure of the wood and the variety of fossil plants in which it occurred.
University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute, Division of Vertebrate Paleontology (KU), Title: Teeth, Tides, and Tiny Titans: Collections and Discoveries from KU Vert Paleo Explore the diversity of ancient life in Teeth, Tides, and Tiny Titans: Collections and Discoveries from KU Vert Paleo. Exhibit highlights vertebrates across deep time, featuring fossils from the Western Interior Seaway of Kansas, the evolutionary story of early mammals, a newly published Nano Tyrannus specimen, and a variety of dinosaur teeth that reveal how feeding strategies shaped their diets.
